Walt Disney World 2020 Dining Plans – Important Updates

Overall the Walt Disney World Dining Plan entitlements & locations have not changed leaps and bounds from 2019. The BIG change going into place now is the separation of the child & adult quick service meal credits.

Although Disney rules have always stated that children ages 3 – 9 must order off of the children’s menu where available, in the past quick service dining credits were not tracked separately for children and adults. This allowed children a little more freedom. If they didn’t like what was offered on the children’s menu, or maybe had larger appetites, they could order off of the adult menu.

Due to the credit separation loophole, families had found ways to order all adult meals with their quick service credits & share the larger portions in order to stretch the value of their dining plan. If you were one of those people, be prepared, if you order adult meals for your children age 3 – 9, you may end up with only child credits left to use.

Keep in mind that Disney is closing a loophole in their tracking system. Their rules have always stated that children 3 – 9 must order from a child’s menu.

Fly Free for your Next Cruise

You read that right.  You can fly for free for your next cruise & there are no tricks, no gimmicks, no strings attached.  How can this be?  Through Norwegian Cruise Line’s Fly Free offer and I’m going to tell you how in 3 simple steps.

1. Find a great travel advisor (many don’t charge fees)
2. Choose a cruise from a participating gateway
3. book your cruise

That seems easy enough doesn’t it? With Norwegian Cruise Line’s free & reduced air offer, the first two guests in your stateroom can enjoy big savings on round trip flights to over 1,000 cruise options.

• The air promotion is only for the 1st & 2nd guest in the stateroom, additional guests will need to pay an air fee.
• The fly free cruises are typically offered on sail dates that are 6 months are more from the date you book your cruise. The further out, the better.
• Not all gateways are offered. You need to find a qualifying gateway depending on where you live. Even if you flight to where you want to cruise is not free, they are often discounted. This is where your travel advisor help you find your options.
• You will still need to pay baggage fees.
• You cannot choose your airline or flight times. Free is free & you get what you are assigned. There is no way to change your flights.
• Transportation to your cruise ship is not included, but can be added.
• For domestic flights if a layover is required, it will be no more than 3 hours, but can be as short as 30 or 45 minutes.
• If you are flying internationally, they do their best to provide flights with no more than one connection.
• If you’re flying from the west coast to the east coast, you will be on an overnight flight allowing you plenty of time to get where you need to go.

Who should take advantage of this offer? People with flexible travel plans. Couples, friends, family or colleagues traveling with 2 people per room. People who have plenty of time to plan their cruise; this does not work for last minute cruises. Families who would like 2 people in the room to fly free. People who do not mind being flexible with their flights.

Fifth Disney Cruise Ship Named – Wish

Your wish is their command on every Disney Cruise Vacation. I find ‘wish’ to be an intriguing name to add to the current Disney fleet with the Disney Magic, Wonder, Dream & Fantasy. As you sail the high seas with luxurious service, surroundings & experiences you will have an unforgettable experience that will last a lifetime and the fifth Disney Cruise ship will be making wishes come true for many generations of families.

During the D23 Expo today, Bob Chapek was joined by Joe Rohde as he announced the name of the 5th Disney Cruise ship and also revealed a few details about the atrium and the iconic character that will adorn the ship’s stern.

The stern on the new ship will feature Rapunzel on the Disney Wish. Disney Parks Blog states ” Our favorite artsy princess, paintbrush in hand, uses her enchanted hair to suspend herself as she decorates the stern of the ship with the help of her feisty sidekick, Pascal. Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world. The stern on the new ship will feature Rapunzel on the Disney Wish.”

The ships atrium design is set to be bright, airy & elegant in true Disney fashion. The atrium has been inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale.

Although the Disney wish is scheduled for delivery to Disney in late 2021, it will not set sail until January 2022. Two more ships will following the coming years and all of the new ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream & Fantasy at approx 144,000 gross tons with 1,250 guest staterooms.

Further details were revealed about Disney’s private beach that is currently a work in progress. As previously announced, the location is on Eleuthera in the Bahamas and Disney’s private beach will be called Lighthouse Point. Joe Rohde is also spearheading the development of Lighthouse point and has been busy touring the culture of The Bahamas with local artist & experts. Joe has stated that Disney Will be involved in conservation efforts to preserve and protect the environment and is working to create a destination that immerses guests in Bahamian culture and Disney magic.

After assessments are done and plans are reviewed, construction could begin in 2020 with completion in late 2022 or 2023.

In total three new ships will be joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet. There will be magic for everyone and I am sitting on the edge of my seat to hear any new details on the ships & the ports that they will visit.

Disney Travel Protection Plan Price Increase

I always encourage travelers to purchase some type of travel insurance for their vacations. This can cover a wide range of things from cancellation due to illness or weather and also travel delay due to weather or airline reasons. If you have to cancel your trip due to a covered reason the Travel Protection plan will provide a refund for the prepaid non-refundable portion of your trip.

Today the Walt Disney Travel Company has announced a big change in the prices of their travel protection policy effective August 7th 2019. The price increase is $5.00 per adult & $.50 per child 17 & under. This increase will affect for Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort & Aulani vacations.

Starting August 7th, 2019, Walt Disney Travel Company will charge the following if guests elect to add travel protection insurance to their vacations
children are age 17 & under

$82.50 per adult	$75.50 per adult	$93.50 per adult
$6.00 per child	$5.50 per child	$6.50 per child

Another things to note is that if a guests’ vacation travel dates are modified and their package includes non-refundable airfare, or other non-refundable charges have been incurred, they must purchase a new Travel protection Plan in order to obtain coverage for the revised travel dates. This procedure applies even if the guest states that they will not be filling a claim on the non-refundable charges.

If a new guest is added to an exsiting reservation, the newly updated price will be charged.

If you plan to add vacation protection to your Disney vacation package, now is the time to do it. The travel protection plan must be paid for in full at the time it is purchased. Disney states that guests’ have 14 days to review the policy & get a refund if they do not like the terms. After that review period, the travel protection plan is non-refundable.
